Choir Class Notes: Fall Edition
It’s been over a month since school started, and as of this past weekend, it’s officially fall!
We caught up with Mrs. Glazer, Indian Valley’s choir teacher for grades 6-12, to get the latest on what her choir classes are up to.
So far, the year is off to a great start for all grades! One change this year is that the 7th and 8th grade choirs are working together during their first period class. Mrs. Glazer notes, “This has been a really great experience. The 8th grade choir is small but mighty, and having their leadership with the 7th grade really helps with our musicianship.”
The 6th graders are proving to be fast learners and are bringing lots of energy to the choir.
All choirs are currently preparing for the upcoming Fall Choral Concert on October 22 at 7 PM in the IVHS Gymnasium. The 7th and 8th graders are working on essential skills like sight singing and solfège, which is a method of learning how to read and “hear” music notes by pairing each one with a syllable. Many people will recognize this scale:
The high school choir members are reflecting and thinking about how they can improve this year.
The Fall Choral Concert will be the first of the year. Mark your calendars and come support the talent and hard work of our Indian Valley singers!
